Seville Estate Australia’s Best Winery
The Yarra Valley’s Seville Estate is Australia’s Best Winery.
The Victorian vineyard has been named Australia’s Best Winery for 2019 by wine guru James Halliday, in his annual awards.
Seville Estate also win the trophy for best shiraz wine in Australia and best pinot noir wine in Australia. A significant achievement, given the rich depth of Australia’s winemaking industry.
The Seville Estate has been snuggled in the Yarra Valley wine region since the 1960’s, with the first vineyards planted back in 1972 by Mr Peter McMahon.
Today, Dylan McMahon, Peter’s grandson, is in charge of Seville Estate.
The cool-climate of the Yarra Valley has helped the region develop strong reputation as one of the world’s premier wine producing regions; especially for shiraz, pinot and chardonnay.
“Seville Estate has just been awarded the once in a lifetime honour ‘Winery of the Year’ at the 2019 Halliday Wine Companion Awards,” the Estate said.
“The award ceremony taking place this year at the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne, celebrates the best Australian wines, winemakers and wineries.”
The winery has recently undergone a transformation, with new gardens and landscaping and renovations to a small apartment building for visitors, as well as an old homestead that sleeps up to 8-people.
