Kmart retail stores have closed down across Australia.
Kmart stores across Sydney and New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland have closed.
The move to online purchases and strict Covid-19 rules are behind the shutdown.
A Kmart spokesperson said times were changing.
“We want to continue to support our customers with shopping in a way that’s most convenient for them,” she said.
“Our store teams will continue working in-store, as part of this fulfilment team; ensuring that our Kmart customers and communities have easy access to the products they need, at the time they need them most,” she said.
Staff were being redeployed to logistics jobs for home delivery.
“We recognise that this is a unique time and we are here to support our customers, teams and communities, while we all adjust to this new way of life together,” the spokeswoman said
