Breaking News: There is a concerning surge in cases across Melbourne today.
Victorian Deputy CHO Annaliese Van Diemen said the government is “very concerned”.
The Victorian Government is sending out emergency texts to people in suburban Melbourne “hot spots” as the crisis escalates across the city.
Emergency Texts are being sent to Keilor Downs and Broadmeadows, as well as surrounding areas, encouraging people to get tested. This is the same alert system for phone number used during the bushfires and other natural disasters.

41 new coronavirus cases were recorded in Victoria overnight, of which up to 40 were locally acquired.
Victoria has added 15 new community transmission cases to its total count.
