The pandemic may be back in Melbourne in a big way.

7 cases have been announced today.

A man in his 60s and a family testing positive. They lived in the same apartment block in Maribyrnong locked down as a Covid hotspot earlier this week.

This is the same apartment block visited by removalists infected with the virus, who had travelled from Sydney.

A family of 4 there are all now positive for Covid.

A different family of three and a man in his 60s who lived in apartments on the 3rd floor there, have also caught the virus.

The man in his 60s had now infected his elderly parents who live in Broadmeadows.

The man also visited the AFL game between Geelong and Carlton on Saturday and sat in a corporate members section of the ground on level 2.

Around 2,000 nearby people are being contacted to get tested and isolate.

Meanwhile, the family of four in the same apartment unit, may be responsible for giving the virus to a man in his 30s at Coles Craigieburn on Saturday July 10. One member of the family breached rules by leaving home to shop.

It appears the virus is well and truly out in the Melbourne region now and people with any symptoms are urged to get tested right away and isolate. Anyone who was in a hotspot should get tested and isolate.

Victorian authorities are updating the situation every hour.
